  2. Families are encouraged to visit the school. The prospective student spends the day in his/her current grade. The parents tour the campus, talk with the Director of Admissions and Headmaster, learn more about the school’s philosophy and discuss the child’s educational needs.
  3. An Application, with a $75.00 (non-refundable) application fee, is submitted to the Director of Advancement.
  4. The Records Release Form and Recommendation Forms signed by the parents will be returned to Hickory Day School.
  5. The student will be scheduled for admission testing according to the grade entry (K-3, 4-5, 6-8) by the appropriate faculty members.
  6. The Director of Admissions discusses with the parents the events of the class visit.
  7. When the Admission file is complete, the Admission Committee meets to review the student’s school records, HDS teacher observations, results of the testing, application recommendations and writing samples (when applicable) for consideration for admission.
  8. Parents are notified of the Admission Committee’s decision.
  9. An Acceptance Letter and Enrollment Contract are sent home. The signed contract and deposit must be returned to the school within two (2) weeks.
  10. The new student is fully enrolled!

When there are more viable candidates than openings in a class, and all other factors appear equal, the Admission Committee gives preference to siblings of other students currently enrolled in Hickory Day School.
