Academics

Language Arts:
Instructional reading stories for this unit focus on “Journeys”. Students engage in read a loud selections as well as independent reading books. We continue to use Open Court as our curriculum to enhance reading and phonics skills. In addition, students participate in reading groups tailored to individual skills. Reading A to Z, leveled reading baskets and Dolch books are utilized as supplemental reading materials.

Writing is encouraged daily through writing prompts, journals and writing workbooks. Writing activities relate to relevant language arts and Unit of Inquiry activities.
